Why the iPod Touch 1G and 2G aren't included... ( 3rd generation)Rules!
You will realize that i'm not including the 2G(2nd Generation) or 1G(1st Generation) iPod Touch models in this comparison. That's because hands down the 3rd Generation is by far better than previous models in every way , namely:
- Lower cost. A 32Gb iTouch 3G(3rd generation) cost the same as a 16Gb iTouch 2G( 2nd generation) and is twice as cheap as a 16GB 1G(1st Generation)
- 50% Faster than the 2G. Upgraded internals and better graphics .Newer OS (operating System)
- Voice control Support

Overview of the iPod Touch | iPhone 3rd Generation 3G|Gs differences
At first glance it would appear that you get much more for much less with the iPhone 3G and 3Gs than with the iPod Touch. However, the iPhone requires you to qualify and sign up for a 2 year contract with AT&T. The cost of the 3G plan has recently increased to $30 USD. In addition you would need a voice plan starting at $40USD per month . Read about it here. So we can see that you would actually pay much more with an iPhone over time. If however , you decide that you would like to purchase an iPhone with the AT&T plan , lets say AT&T is already your network , then you can simply visit the Apple store and make your purchase.
This is why most people go for the 3rd generation iPod Touch instead of the iPhone 3G or 3Gs . The iPod touch , while not having a camera or talk capabilities has most of the same features , can run all the games , movies , music etc. and supposedly has better graphics and performance than the iPhone . You can get an Ipod Touch 3rd generation at a discount when you buy it from Amazon using one of the links in the chart below.These are the best prices you are likely to find on the internet.
A word of caution when buying from other sites , I have seen a number of advertisements selling an iTouch for as low as $49 US. I know personally of people who have been ripped off this way as these so called ' iPod Touch' are replicas , knock offs from China. They look very close to the real thing , but are cheap and don't have the same functionality of durability and are a waste of money.
Where to buy Jailbroken iPhone 3rd Generation |Gs
There is another option if you want an iPhone and that is purchasing a jailbroken or unlocked iPhone or 3Gs.For obvious reasons you would pay more than the MSRP as jaibroken iPhone retailers would have to aquire the phones and unlock them. The benefits of this are
